There were five games on the women’s side of WAC play Thursday. And it was a pretty competitive evening around the league.
SFA pulled away from Sam Houston for a win in Huntsville. New Mexico State had to survive a late rally from Abilene Christian for a win at the Pan Am Center while Utah Tech also prevailed at home. Seattle and California Baptist also came away with road wins on this Thursday evening.

Stephen F. Austin 62, Sam Houston 55:
In Huntsville, the Ladyjacks (17-3, 7-1 WAC) led by 18 after three quarters, were outscored 22-11 in the fourth, and still managed to sit in 2nd place on their own. Avery Brittingham had 21 points (a new career-high), four rebounds, four assists and two steals to lead the way.
For the Bearkats (8-10, 4-4 WAC), Chyna Allen had 17 points while Tierney Coleman added 10 with four rebounds and two steals for the Bearkats.

California Baptist 83, UT Arlington 65
Down two starters, the Lady Mavs (9-12, 3-6 WAC) fought valiantly, cutting double digit leads to a possession or two. However, UTA just could not withstand a Lancers (10-9, 6-2 WAC) offense that had five players in double figure scoring. Trinity San Antonio led the charge with 21 points, five rebounds, five steals, and five assists. Grace Schmidt added 17 points with four rebounds for CBU. Dorcas Wu added 13 points and connected on another trio of shots from beyond the arc. She is 7-13 from 3-point range in two games against the Lady Mavs. Kinsley Barrington added 12 points with six rebounds while Nae Nae Calhoun contributed 11 points. The Lancers shot 53 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range.
For UT Arlington, it was Kayla White leading the way with 21 points and seven rebounds while Taleyah Jones added 16 points, three rebounds and a pair of assists. Starr Jacobs also chipped in 15 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Lady Mavs.

New Mexico State 69, Abilene Christian 61
At the Pan Am Cente,r it was the Sofia Inoussa show for the Aggies as she led New Mexico State (11-10, 6-3 WAC) with 28 points (a new career high). Inoussa hit five 3-pointers in the win in Las Cruces. Taylor Donaldson added another 10 points for New Mexico State, who hit a season high eight 3-pointers in the win.
Abilene Christian (10-9, 4-4 WAC) got 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals from Addison Martin and another 18 points, four rebounds, three steals and three blocks from Maleeah Langstaff in defeat.

Seattle U 66, Utah Valley 58
In Orem, the Redhawks (2-16, 2-6 WAC) got their second win of the season behind a career day from Taliyah Clark. Clark had 25 points and nine rebounds to lead the way. Clark also connected on seven 3-pointers in what was a day she’ll never forget.
For the Wolverines (4-16, 1-8 WAC), Shay Fano had 16 points with six rebounds and four steals to lead the way. Kaylee Byon continued her excellent play of late with 14 points and three assists while Eleyana Tafisi added 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Utah Tech 70, Tarleton 44
In St. George, Emily Isaacson had 20 first half points to propel the Trailblazers (13-6, 5-3) to an 18-point lead at intermission. Isaacson finished with 22 points while hitting six 3-pointers to lead Utah Tech’s attack. Also in double figures for the Trailblazers were Maggie McCord with 14 points and nine rebounds, Brooke Vance with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Breaunna Gillen with 11 points, nine assists, and six rebounds.
For the Texans (7-12, 1-7), it was Nya Mitchels with 12 points and three rebounds who led the way along with Teresa Da Silva’s 11 points, four rebounds, and two steals.
