It’s New Year’s Week and with the calendar turning towards 2023 let’s take a look at some New Year’s resolutions for your favorite WAC women’s basketball teams.
Teams are listed in no random order:
Abilene Christian
Get that 3-point shooting percentage up. The Wildcats are usually among the top teams in 3-pointers made. But this year sit just outside the top-50 in made 3-pointers per game.
California Baptist
Get healthy quick and fix the defensive issues (Lancers are allowing an average of 73 points per game so far this year).
Grand Canyon
Fix the free throw issues (last place in the WAC) and force another couple of hundred turnovers.
New Mexico State
Figure out how to finish games in the fourth quarter. Aggies have been in most every game they’ve played in this year but just have four wins in games decided by 10 points or less.
Sam Houston
Consistency, Consistency, Consistency…which team will show up the rest of the way? The team that beat TCU in Dallas and hung with SEC and AAC teams or the one that lost to a non-DI opponent?
Seattle
Tighten up the rebounding margin and take better care of the ball.
Southern Utah
Keep everyone healthy and keep up the strong start you had to open WAC play.
Stephen F. Austin
Get Zya Nugent healthy for 2023-24, defend the WAC regular season and tournament championships and get an NCAA Tourney win.

Tarleton
Bottle up the start Teresa Da Silva had to non-conference play and figure out how to carry it forward for another three months. Get that field goal shooting percentage up.
UT Arlington
Rediscover the offense which allowed them to hang so well with a pair of Power 5 teams.
Utah Tech
Get the Warren’s healthy for 2023-24 and even out the rebounding margin.
Utah Valley
Get that 3-point shooting percentage up, take care of the ball and rebound a bit better in WAC play.
UTRGV
Improve the 3-point shooting and find some offensive consistency.
Everybody
Figure out how to get women’s basketball attendance up conference wide. Just some resolutions that most teams might have on their bulletin boards.
