It is the first episode of the WAC Hoops Digest Podcast as it is Tip-Off Tuesday. The Road to #WACVegas starts tonight as all nine WAC Hoops teams tip off the season. Eight of the nine teams are at home to start the season while UTRGV goes on the road to take on South Dakota State.
There are a lot of storylines in the WAC in 2019-20 from New Mexico State dominating again to Chicago State winning more games than in 2018-19. Aggies are a little banged up right now but expect head coach Chris Jans to have his full roster available when WAC play begins in January.
New coaches Mark Madsen and Billy Donlon look to get off on the right foot. Both coaches have to replace a lot of pieces from the 2018-19 season. Utah Valley returns just two lettermen from a season ago while Kansas City had 10 players enter the transfer portal once Kareem Richardson was fired.
California Baptist is looking to keep improving in its second season at the Division I level. With Milan Acquaah and De’Jon Davis, the pieces are in place for CBU to make noise.
Seattle is hoping to avoid the injury bug again in what could be a big season in the Pacific Northwest. With everyone returning and if the injuries stay away, look out. Jim Hayford will have his best team since taking over at Seattle two years ago.
UTRGV boasts one of the best players in the WAC in Javon Levi. And with the chaotic defensive pressure the Vaqueros bring, anything is possible.
Kansas City and CSU Bakersfield looking to go out with a bang in their final years in the WAC.
So many storylines and we are going to have them for you. Check out WAC Hoops Digest and The WAC Hoops Digest Podcast.
