Feast Week continues on Tuesday with five WAC teams in action. Can GCU bounce back and find some offensive rhythm? How will Sam Houston fare against a mid-major opponent? Like Grand Canyon, can UT Arlington find some offensive rhythm?
The Lopes face Northern Iowa in the final game of the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City. GCU lost 55-43 to Wichita State on Monday. And despite a big win at home on Friday against Grambling, the inefficiency on offense reared its ugly head again on Monday. GCU shot 27 percent from the field. 27 percent! That is horrible. It’s crazy to think that GCU has scored 60 points or fewer in three of its five games so far this season. We will see how they fare against Northern Iowa on Tuesday morning.
Sam Houston is getting attention it deserves. The Bearkats are 4-0 and have wins at Oklahoma and Utah. And now we get to see the Bearkats in action against a mid-major. How will they handle the attention? Will they come out flat or will Jason Hooten’s squad come out with a chip on its shoulder? Should be a fun one at the Fort Myers Tip-Off.
And UT Arlington…can you find the offense to match the defensive effort? Who will step up? Tahj Anderson? Kyron Gibson? Pedro Castro? Someone has to step up offensively. It may be tough sledding, though, as Northern Kentucky is no slouch. The Norse already have a win over Cincinnati early in this 2022-23 season.
