RIVERSIDE, Calif — California Baptist junior guard Milan Acquaah is the WAC Player of the Week. The Western Athletic Conference announced on Monday that Acquaah earned the honor after a career-high 37 points in a one-point loss to South Dakota on Wednesday.
Acquaah also hit five 3-pointers in the contest. The 37 points broke the CBU men’s basketball single-game record of 36 , which Aquaah set last year when CBU beat New Mexico State to open WAC play.
The Lancers are currently 3-4 on the season and have lost back-to-back games at the CBU Events Center. CBU lost to South Dakota, 84-83 on Wednesday night in the WAC/Summit League Challenge. Acquaah is currently averaging 18.1 points, 5.3 rebounds just a tad over six assists per game. The Bakersfield native is second in the WAC in scoring and first in the WAC in assists.
Acquaah’s best game of 2019-20 came against Cal Lutheran. Despite only playing 26 minutes, Acquaah had 27 points, seven assists, four rebounds and four steals. Efficiency was key as Acquaah was 7-13 from the field, 4-8 from 3-point land and 9-10 from the free throw line in the win for the Lancers.
